Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, established in 1914, has more than 2,000 species of exotic animals and maintains over 1,500 varieties of plants. It exhibits gorillas, lions, tigers, polar bears, penguins, hippos, black storks, capuchin monkeys, lemurs, leopards, orangutan, reptiles and birds. The zoo organizes special educational and entertainment programs for children, including summer camps, classes and community programs. It offers various amenities in its gardens, such as playgrounds, picnic and fishing areas, jogging tracks, restrooms, education centers and walking trails. It also organizes various cultural programs and recreational activities, such as music festivals, community special events, concerts, art classes and fire camps. It is located in Jacksonville, Fla., and is accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
