Founded in 1889, Hernando High School is one of the schools governed by the Hernando County. It is a four-year comprehensive school with an enrollment of more than 1,000 students. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school offers a broad range of courses that includes exceptional student education, career and technical courses and high-level academics. Its students have to complete a series of classes in subjects, including English, science, social studies, life management skills, physical education and a number of electives in order to graduate. Hernando High School, located in Brooksville, Fla., also offers dual-enrollment programs through the Pasco-Hernando Community College, as well as advanced-placement courses on campus and through the Florida Virtual School.
