The Gadsden Correctional Institute is a female-owned, medium-security facility that has been operational since 1998 in the state of Florida. The facility features more than 1,500 beds. It serves the Florida Department of Corrections and has been accredited by the American Correctional Association. The Gadsden Correctional Institute s community activities include the Special Olympics Torch Run March of Dimes, American Cancer Society Relay for Life American Heart Association, and Gadsden Literacy Summit Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency WorkForce. The institute offers a variety of educational, vocational and mental health programs, as well as religious services. The Gadsden Correctional Institute is a part of the Corrections Corporation of America, which is one of the largest owners and operators of privatized correctional and detention facilities in the United States.
