The Florida Department of Environmental Protection s Northwest District is a regulatory office that serves the residents of more than 15 counties in the Florida panhandle. The district supports several community outreach programs. It administers environmental regulatory programs related to air resource, waste and water resources management. The district also conducts a submerged lands and environmental resources program. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection works to protect air, water and land from pollution. The department is also responsible for improving air quality, restoring and protecting water quality in springs, lakes, rivers and coastal waters. It works to conserve environmental-sensitive lands.
