Located in Jacksonville, Fla., Environmental Engineering Section is a part of the Duval County Health Department. The section permits, monitors and regulates public water systems. It offers inspection services for open swimming pools, water parks and bathing places. Environmental Engineering Section s environmental health staff collects and analyzes contaminants for private water systems. The section provides routine assessment to ensure bacteriologically, chemically and radiologically safe drinking water for human use and consumption. It also monitors the quality of potable well water through site investigation and well water sampling services. In addition, Environmental Engineering Section offers contamination detection services for gasoline stations, dry cleaning facilities, landfills and industrial sites.
