In 1984, Islamorada Jewelers was established by husband and wife team Joe and Lynn DePaula in the Florida Keys. They sought to run a business built on honesty and quality that also celebrates the island lifestyle they enjoy. Their first shop was located in Islamorada, one of the islands in the Upper Keys. Islamorada is known for its magnificent sport fishing and is home to wide open waters, delicate coral reefs, and diverse marine life. Joe began to craft many nautical pieces of jewelry that reflected the environmental beauties all around them. From that humble little store in the Keys, the business grew. Joe trained as a Master Jeweler and Lynn as a Graduate Gemologist, and the store settled in a bigger, busier location in Tavernier--fifteen minutes and two short islands away from Islamorada. Islamorada Jewelers was rechristened DePaula Jewelers, which still stands today in the same location in Tavernier. Their children grew up to take on new roles in the family business, including laser welder, numismatist, and watch technician. The business expanded further when they returned to Islamorada with a second location, named Islamorada Jewelers in honor of their original company name. DePaula Jewelers and Islamorada Jewelers continue to win awards of excellence and have built a strong reputation and trust with the locals. We are still a family-run business.
