Palm Beach County Bridge Section is a specialized division of the Road and Bridge Division for the Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works agency. Bridge Section is responsible for: maintenance of eight bascule bridges over the Intracoastal Waterway and one swing bridge at Point Chosen; and maintenance of 271 various types of fixed bridges, including interstate highway crossings, canal crossings, and pedestrian bridges. This maintenance includes electrical, mechanical and structural repairs. Bridge Section also conducts routine bridge inspections as required and oversees the maintenance and construction of guardrails on county roads. Finally, it constructs concrete sidewalks, storm drain structures, handicap ramps and upgrade bridge parapets. Palm Beach County is located in southeast Florida and has a population of more than 1 million residents.
