The City of Leesburg Electric Department, located in Leesburg, Fla., serves more than 16,300 residential and over 3,200 commercial customers. Established in 1926, it includes nearly five substations and distribution facilities. The department offers decorative, flood, parking lot and security lighting systems. It also provides decorative and basic poles and fixtures. The Electric Department offers emergency services for power and streetlight outages, downed electrical wires, arcing electric equipment, and dim and flickering lights. It purchases power through the Florida Municipal Power Agency. The department has more than 230 miles of overhead and over 130 miles of underground primary lines and nearly 6,500 transformers. It offers installation services for surge protectors.
