Youth Crisis Center-the Safe Place South
The Youth Crisis Center is a nonprofit organization serving as a shelter for runaway youths. It was established in 1974 and is located in Jacksonville, Fla. It offers a wide range of programs for the runaway youths, including safe place, residential, family link and special needs assistance programs. The center s residential program provides short-term shelter care and counseling to more than 1,500 troubled children in the age group of 10 to 17 years. The center also provides various services and amenities to the residents that include food, clothing, group and family counseling, youth development programs. It also offers life management, social skill and recreational activities. The family link program is an outpatient counseling program for families experiencing youth-related problems. The Youth Crisis Center s counselors specialize in working with troubled youths those exhibiting ungovernable and disobedient behavior, habitual runaway episodes and truancy, and family and related problems.
