Established in 2000, Christi Academy was a vision 30 years in the making by founder by Nancy C. Hellwege, Ed. S. Nancy's own daughter, Christie, was a special needs child in the 60's and 70's when special programs did not exist to help these students. Barely graduating and getting in one year of college, Christie ended up waitressing and tending bar while raising 3 children. Christie eventually went back to school in her 30's, obtaining a certificate in engineering and securing a job with Motorola. Motorola was sending Christie to college when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Sadly, Christie passed away in 1996. Nancy's mission was to open a school to
