History
BEARS was created to change the message related to patient compliance/adherence. 125,000 people die each year in the US because patients choose not to follow their provider's plan of care. Billions of dollars are needlessly spent because behaviors are not changing during the brief encounters with providers several times per year. A new approach, Therapeutic Behavior Management was developed based on the science of applied behavior analysis to train nurses, pharmacists, patient advocates, navigators, therapists and others with direct patient contact to develop implement and reinforce plans of care to increase the incidence of patient compliance.
