Alex Mafdali, M.D., is a board-certified family medicine physician specializing in primary care sports medicine at Baptist Health.Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Mafdali completed his primary care sports medicine fellowship at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.Dr. Mafdali earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at University of Connecticut School of Medicine. During his fellowship, Dr. Mafdali trained in the nonsurgical management of acute and chronic orthopedic conditions and gained expertise in ultrasound diagnostics and procedures. In addition, he worked as a sideline medical team member for the Miami Dolphins, Inter Miami CF, Miami Heat, Florida International University, St. Thomas University and Barry University. He continues to serve as a sideline physician for professional, college and high school sports teams in the Miami area.He is a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians.Dr. Mafdali believes in a compassionate, collaborative approach to care. He wants every patient to feel engaged and empowered to participate in decisions that affect their treatment. He considers it a privilege to help patients get back to doing what they enjoy, whether that is taking a morning walk or playing professional sports.In his free time, Dr. Mafdali is a sports enthusiast. He enjoys tennis, golf, pickleball, hiking, boating, and fishing.
