Founded in 1973, the Adventist Health System is one of the largest, nonprofit Protestant health care providers in the United States. It supports and strengthens Seventh-day Adventist health care organizations in the southern and southwestern U.S. The organization works with a team of more than 43,000 employees. The Adventist Health System supports over 35 hospitals in nearly 10 U.S. states that have approximately 6,000 licensed beds. It serves more than 4 million patients annually in inpatient, outpatient and emergency room visits. The organization practices in the areas of psychology, oncology, neurosurgery, radiology, pain medicine pediatrics and orthopedics. The Adventist Health System also operates a home health care division, Sunbelt Home Health Care, which manages hospital-based and freestanding agencies
