The Urban Land Institute is a nonprofit education and research institute supported by its members. Established in 1936, the institute has nearly 40,000 members worldwide representing several land use and development disciplines in private and public service sectors. It has organized district councils in more than 50 metropolitan areas in the North America. The Urban Land Institute s councils provide a forum for education and networking among its members. The institute publishes various publications, such as reports and case studies. It also publishes several magazines that include Urban Land and Urban Land Green. The Urban Land Institute s members include academic, government agencies, financial institutions, investment funds, and development and professional service firms. The Urban Land Institute operates an online store that features a range of books on several topics, such as portfolio management, capital markets, demographics and economic development.
