Founded in 1920, the Transportation Research Board offers research and information exchange services. It analyses national transportation policy issues, as well as provides guidance on federal and other research programs. The research board administers National Cooperative Highway Research and Transit Cooperative Research programs. The Transportation Research Board produces and distributes more than 200 publications annually. It maintains the Transportation Research Information Services, which is one of the largest online bibliographic databases of published transportation research records in the world. The Transportation Research Board also organizes conferences and workshops on subjects and issues related to transportation community. The research board is one of the divisions of the National Research Council.
