Founded in 2003, Street Sense is a 16-page biweekly street newspaper. The news paper s publishing house is located in Washington, D.C. It raises public awareness on the issues of homelessness and poverty in the city and to create economic opportunities for people experiencing homelessness. Street Sense includes news, features, editorials and poems, as well as art on homelessness and poverty by homeless individuals, advocates and professional writers. Its publishing house has more than 50 vendors throughout the city who sell over 12,000 papers every fortnight. Street Sense s publishing house operates a DC Street Soccer Club, which is a project for homeless individuals that play league matches.
