Cora Kelly Recreation Center

Located in Alexandria, Cora Kelly Recreation Center is a community resource for teens looking for a safe and friendly environment. This facility is home to a teen center, athletic field, fitness and activity room, photography lab, dance studio and more. It offers teen-centered activities, including arts and crafts, ceramics, pottery and gymnasium activities.

Bowie Volunteer Fire Department

The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department is located in Old Bowie, but serves the entire region when needed. It has four full-time firefighters on duty 24 hours a day as well as a network of volunteer firefighters. It has a ladder truck, two engines, and an ambulance. You can reach them for non-emergencies at 301-262-0501, or you can call the universal line for all stations in PG County by dialing 301-883-77(19), as this is station 19. For the other Bowie stations (39, 43, and 816), dial the same number and replace the last two digits, which will connect you to the appropriate station.

Lorton Senior Center

The Lorton Senior Center provides a range of opportunities for Lorton residents 55 and over to make friends, stay on the move, and learn new things. The center offer classes, health and wellness programs, computer and Internet access, trips and tours, and opportunities to socialize with others and stay connected with your community. There is an annual membership fee for attending the senior centers. Lunch is available with a suggested donation between $2 and $6 based on age and income. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Transportation, by Fastran bus, may be available at a nominal charge from your home to the center nearest you and back home. Check with the center to find out more.
