The Association of American Colleges and Universities is one of the leading national associations concerned with the quality, vitality and public standing of undergraduate liberal education. Founded in 1915 by college presidents, AAC&U represents the entire spectrum of American colleges and universities, including large and small, public and private, two-year and four-year. AAC&U is also a community of educational leaders. The association works to offer the advantages of a liberal education to all students, regardless of their academic specialization or intended career. AAC&U comprises more than 1000 accredited colleges and universities that collectively educate over 5 million students every year. The association is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
