The American Council of Engineering Companies, also called as ACEC, promotes the business interests of the engineering industry to Congress, federal agencies and international organizations. The organization is a national federation of 51 states and regional organizations. Founded in 1910, ACEC represents approximately 5,500 independent engineering companies throughout the United States engaged in the development of transportation, environmental, industrial and other infrastructure. ACEC's Institute for Business Management offers comprehensive curriculum-based educational programs to its members. The association s bookstore offers books and merchandise. The council s official publication, Last Word, covers important legislative and business information. ACEC also provides scholarships to students pursuing a bachelor's degree in an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. ACEC has headquarters in Washington, D.C.
