Alliance for Justice, founded in 1979, is a lobbying group of more than 60 public interest organizations that advocate for civil rights, social justice, individual privacy and consumer and environmental protection. The organization is involved in the appointment process for federal judges, monitors and examines judicial nominations and encourages public participation in the confirmation process. It also supports foundations and provides necessary information on the rules that apply to their activities to ensure funding to nonprofit organizations. Its Co/Motion program helps organizations build their capacity to foster youth leadership by providing training and technical assistance to young adults between 15 to 25 in advocacy and organizing skills. Alliance also has a program called the First Monday for the college students in the fields of law, medicine, public health and social work and focuses on important issues of social justice. Alliance for Justice is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
