International Visions Gallery
HistoryInternational Visions Gallery was founded by Timothy A. Davis, current Owner and Director. He envisioned a fine arts gallery in Washington that exhibited internationally and nationally recognized artists. Davis believed it important to provide a forum in which visitors could experience different cultures through contemporary art. Over the past thirteen years, the gallery has become a haven for area residents and artists alike. Davis continually seeks new talent from within and outside the country. A number of exhibitions have marked the first time that a particular artist has shown work in the Washington area and, in some cases, the United States. For many international artists, especially those from developing nations, showing artwork in the United States dramatically impacts not only their artistic career but their standard of living and that of their family.SpecialtiesInternational Visions Gallery represents artists from over twenty-five nations, including Australia, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Haiti, Senegal, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Sudan, Vietnam, Ireland, and Bulgaria, as well as artists from around the US and Washington, DC. The gallery also specializes in promoting African American artists, including members of AFRICOBRA. Thanks to this incredible mix, artwork spans many mediums, themes, and price ranges. Exhibits change every four to six weeks. Opening receptions, which are free and open to the public, are a great way to meet the artist(s) and mingle with other gallery supporters in an intimate atmosphere. Special events such as artist talks give the community a chance to discover an artist's background, inspirations, and creative vision on a very personal level. Of course, one may always stop by the gallery (see hours) -- no appointment necessary. Gallery staff are very approachable and eager to help.
