John V. Conte, Jr., MD, FACS received his medical degree and completed his residency in surgery and cardiovascular research at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. In his final year, he was chief resident for the Department of Surgery. While at Georgetown University, he also completed a fellowship in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Neonatology. Dr. Conte completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery and transplantation at Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, Calif. He is board-certified by the Federation of State Medical Boards Diplomate, the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Conte has treated many patients at reputable institutions such as the University of Maryland Medical Center, John Hopkins University Medical Center, Penn State University Milton S. Hershey School of Medicine, and Geisinger Health System. He has led many academic and research activities, including writing medical journals, being the lead research investigator in clinical trials and as an invited speaker on various cardiothoracic topics. He has trained and mentored many cardiothoracic and general surgery residents/clinical fellows, cardiology fellows and medical residents at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University, both in Baltimore, Md. He is a member of 24 medical associations including the American Association of Thoracic Surgery, the American Surgical Society, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and the American Heart Association.
