Zuckermann Harpsichords Inc., hidden in Stonington Borough, is a veritable feast of instruments in the making. The business was established in New York by Wolfgang Zuckermann, and then taken over and moved to Stonington by David Way in 1970. Current owner, Richard Auber, and manager, Steve Salvatore, create and send instuments and kits all over the world.
Depending on the need of the client, kits start at $1800 while finished models top out at $60,000. From the small selection of antique harpsichords remaining in the world, Zuckermann's closely examines chosen models and designs close copies for reproduction, such as the Hans Moermans, 1642. A selection of instruments and more detailed information can be viewed on the website.
