Wesleyan University's 340-acre campus and more than 300 buildings lie within blocks of Main Street Middletown. Admission is highly selective – 68 percent of freshmen entering Wesleyan in the 2009-10 academic year were in the top 10 percent of their class. The median SAT scores were 700 verbal, 700 math, 700 writing, and the median ACT score was 32. More than 2,800 undergraduates and another 200 graduate students attend Wesleyan, pursuing bachelor of arts degrees in 47 major fields. Wesleyan also offers graduate degrees and doctorates in six disciplines and has more than 400 part-time students in a graduate liberal studies program. Per-pupil costs during the 2010–2011 academic year, including tuition, fees, books, supplies and miscellaneous expenses, totaled $56,371. More than 40 percent of students received scholarship awards averaging $35,300. The university has more than 200 student organizations covering a range of interests: martial arts, outdoor activities, community tutoring, a cappella singing, literary magazines, theater and dance troupes, WESU radio, political organizations and ethnic interest and support groups. Wesleyan's Andrus Field is the oldest continuously used football field in the United States. The program's alumni include NFL coaches Bill Belichick and Eric Mangini. The admissions office is at 70 Wyllys Avenue.
