Tunxis Hose is well known for the fireman's carnival and parade held in July, a local favorite that culminates in fireworks, but the company also has a proud history as the town's first fire department.
The fire company was organized in 1893 to meet the need of the community, a call Tunxis Hose still fulfills today. With four trucks, a few full-time members and a roster full of dedicated volunteers, the station responds to calls in Unionville.
Tunxis Hose is located on School Street in Unionville, near George's Pizza, across the intersection from the original station.
The fire company is very active in the community, reaching out through various events such as breakfasts, golf tournaments and the children's Halloween party.
