Hawley Elementary School is a part of the Newtown School District, and is located in Newtown, Conn., in a more than 1-acre plot. Established in 1974, it enrolls more than 550 students from kindergarten through five. Its adjoining field is used for playground facilities. The school programs are designed to meet the needs of young children. It provides a nurturing environment with emphasis on assisting children to learn appropriate ways to solve problems and to obtain the academic skills necessary to be successful. The curriculum includes a wide range of subjects and hands-on experiences that help prepare a child. Hawley Elementary School's parent teacher association is an integral component of the school community.
