The Thomaston Sewer Plant, also known as the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), has been serving the Town of Thomaston since its establishment in 1956. Previously, private companies operated the sewer lines, but the WPCA was formed to construct a new sewage treatment facility, which was completed in 1962 and upgraded in 1972 and 2002. The WPCA treats all wastewater that enters the facility, operates and maintains town-owned sewer lines, and provides assistance to property owners in resolving system issues.
With a mission to abate pollution and create a safe environment for Thomaston residents and downstream communities along the Naugatuck River, the WPCA plays a vital role in ensuring a cleaner and healthier living environment. Led by Superintendent Bert Galpin, the WPCA is committed to its responsibility of treating wastewater and maintaining the sewer infrastructure, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
