In Wilton since the 1980s, New England Historical Connection sells custom built furniture. Furniture on display in the colonial-style house turned showroom is laid as it would be in an actual home. Hardwood floors and splashes of sunlight coming in through the large window add to the warm feel of the shop.
Owner John E. Schnefke has expanded his inventory from furniture design to complement antiques to a collection of period and contemporary pieces created by more than 15 craftsmen. Each piece is custom built to the customer's taste.
In addition to furniture, the store sells accessories for the home, wall finishes and custom built walls. This "gallery of artists," as Schnefke refers to his shop, also sells paintings and art pieces by local artists and exhibits local artwork. Knitting classes are also offered.
