The Sunflower Farm had humble beginings in 1984 when the Sabrina Santoro and her husband Ernie purchased the land. They anticipated continuing to use the farmland but to what extent they did not know. Serendipitously, Ernie Santoro began to plant and cultivate sunflowers which took the place of selling fresh cut bouquets; the original fruits of labor from the farm. Ernie following his penchant for sunflowers and inately green thumb began to grow hundreds of varieties of perennials, dwarf sunflowers, giant sunflowers, annuals, and the "most gorgeous, huge, perfect mums you have ever seen." People arrive from all over the state in order to purchase flowers at Sunflower Farm as well as 100% natural oil soaps, jams and jellies. During the fall the farm also offers cornstalks, hay, pumpkins and a specialty: air-brushed pumpkins.
