St. Vincent Ferrer Church was established when the archbishop of Hartford mandated that the other parish in town, St. Francis of Assisi, create a mission church on the other side of the Naugatuck River. The church's patron saint, Vincent Ferrer, was a missionary of English and Scottish descent, who converted thousands throughout Europe in the 14th and early 15th centuries.
The parish hosts a number of programs, including a Holy Name Society, Ladies Guild and Knights of Columbus. There is also a child care center. The pastor of the church is Rev. Kevin J. Forsyth. He can be reached by e-mail at KevinJForsyth@hotmail.com. The church itself can be reached by e-mail at stvincentfer@sbcglobal.net.
