Found in a state-of-the-art facility, the Southington Water Department provides water throughout the town of Southington and the villages of Plantsville, Marion and Milldale. The department operates on a schedule of fees determined by the water usage per property. It is led by director Tom West and is overseen under the direction of the Southington Board of Water Commissioners. The department serves 12,300 individual homes, apartments and businesses with an average demand of 3.9 million gallons of water a day. The staff also maintains 196 miles of pipe, three reservoirs, seven wells, one filter plant, two pumping stations and six storage tanks with a total capacity of 6.5 million gallons.
