Offering a wide variety of books, movies, audio materials and programs, the Southington Public Library is aims to be the community's center for life learning and both personal and cultural enrichment. The library has several areas for recreational study as well as two floors of books and a collection that is constantly updated. The library is also a member of the ConnectiCard program and Connecticut Education Network which allow local residents to get books unavailable in Southington through other state libraries.
The library is also charged with maintaining the Barnes Museum and operates with the assistance of Friends of the Library, a non-profit organization designed to enhance opportunities and resources available to residents. The library is run by Executive Director Sue Smayda.
