Established in 1938, the South Windsor Volunteer Fire Department is administered by the city government of South Windsor in Connecticut. The department serves a population of more than 25,000 spread over an area of nearly 28 square miles. It maintains various fire stations and employs approximately 100 volunteer staff members. The South Windsor Volunteer Fire Department includes an explorer post and regular and fire and life safety education and community outreach support units. The department s apparatus includes an aerial platform, marine unit, fire engines, and heavy rescue and utility trucks. The South Windsor Volunteer Fire Department conducts fire education programs in schools, churches and various other public places.
