The Department of Public Works is made up of four divisions: administrative, highway, buildings and grounds maintenance and water pollution control. The department has a combined staff of 39 and a budget of more than $3 million, much of which is funded by user fees for waste water treatment and residential properties. The highway division is responsible for road maintenance, drainage work, street sweeping, leaf pickup, constructing walking paths, snow plowing and other maintenance services. Buildings and grounds is responsible for six town buildings, six rental properties, a barn, two well water distribution systems and the Old Tariffville Cemetery. The department also provides set up and cleaning services for activities related to community use of town facilities.
