The farm that we call Scotts Orchard & Nursery was once part of the J. Peter Pilgard farm. In the 1940's the land was purchased by William and Ann Villa and operated as an orchard with a roadside market until their retirement in 1972. At that time it was sold to its current owners Woody and JoAnn Scott. We continued growing apples, peaches, pears and plums and added several acres of vegetables and flowers. In 1997 we added more greenhouses and started a retail garden center. In 1998 we changed our name to Scott's Orchard & Nursery to reflect the expansion in our business. Our son Mike joined us in the business in 1998 and in 2000 our son Charlie started Scott's Orchard & Nursery Landscaping. In 1997 we started with just a few annuals, perennials, and mulch. We are quickly becoming a well-rounded garden center with plant material from all over the United States. We carry a large supply of specimen trees as well as common, native stock grown right here in Connecticut. Our knowledgeable staff can design and install any size landscape our customer's desire. We are rapidly becoming known for our extensive perennial selection and our selection of annuals and hanging baskets grows each year as well. Our family and staff have extensive backgrounds in horticulture and farming. We have on staff both Certified Master Gardeners and Connecticut Accredited Nursery Professionals to serve our customers.
