Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 305 Center St, Meriden, CT 06450, US

Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church was founded in 1911, mainly by Russian immigrants. It is the only Orthodox church in the city of Meriden. Part of the Diocese of New England of the Orthodox Church in America, this parish counts among its members descendents of the parish's original congregants. Other Slavic immigrants, Greeks, Arabs, Albanians and other ethnicities round out the church's ranks. Father Joshua Mosher, who has been leading the congregation since 2005, emphasizes that people of all backgrounds are welcome. The beautiful Byzantine-Russian style church was erected in 1954-55 and painted by Ivan Dikey in the early 1960s. In addition to worhship services, the church offers many avenues for its parishioners to become involved, including a weekly seniors group, bible discussions, and a visitation ministry for the chronically ill. Charitable outreach plays a central role in the Saints Peter and Paul parish. Much of the church's good works focus on the neighborhood surrounding the church itself. But outreach doesn't stop there. For instance, the parish was also actively involved in a project to bring clean drinking water to people in Kenya.
