The Peace Sanctuary on River Rd. in Mystic is owned and maintained by the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center. This park near downtown Mystic includes moderate wooded hiking trails and is a favorite of joggers, walkers, and owners with their dogs. After walking a few steps into the Peace Sanctuary it is easy forgot the proximity of the park to town. At times the trial can be hard to distinguish from the woodlands. In the spring the Peace Sanctuary is full of as many as 400 blooming pink lady's slippers and the nature center often hosts a guided tour through the park in celebration of the flowers.
