Navaratna is a newly opened vegetarian restaurant on the corner of Atlantic and Main. According to owner Ramesh Masilamani, navaratna is a term that refers to nine kinds of special gems in Indian lore. In keeping up with that theme, Masilamani instructs his cooks to use no fewer than nine different kinds of Indian spices in the preparation of all dishes, adhering to a tradition more than 2000 years old. Masilamani's intention is to focus on a healthier cuisine, serving dishes such as the South Indian and Mumbai Thali as well as Veechu Paratha.
