This newly built middle school on a woodsy ridge in the village of Moodus replaced the old Ray School on Plains Road in 2008. With 27 classrooms and two wings, this large educational facility has a leading-edge media lab, two computer rooms and large gym. It is named for Coventry native and American hero Nathan Hale and Frederick L. Ray, who upon his death in 1926 left a half-million dollars to improve vocational education in the town of East Haddam.
