Merryhill is a non-profit child care center licensed to care for children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. It is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has been in business at this scenic location for 20 years. It operates year-round. There are two outdoor playgrounds, one for infants and toddlers and the other for preschoolers. A private bus service transports kindergartners to and from school.
It was initially opened in 1990 as a way to provide child care to state employees of Fairfield Hills Hospital. But when the state mental hospital closed in 1995, Merryhill continued to operate independently.
The center provides one-on-one instruction with children and invites parents to serve on the center's board to get a better sense of its operation.
