In Somers, Mabelle B. Avery Middle School is the middle schooling area for students in town. The building was renovated in 2006 and has many new features and accommodations. The cafeteria, gym, and band and choral room are downstairs, and the classrooms and new media center are upstairs. There are two laptop carts that each have 26 laptops. These carts are brought into the classrooms, so much of the computer work is done in the classroom. All of the science labs are in the science rooms. The Mabelle B. Avery Middle School is on the 115-acre campus that makes up the Somers educational complex. Attached to the school is the Somers education district office, and across the way from it is the Somers Public Library.
