The Ledge Light Health District covers six municipalities including the town and city of Groton. The district inspects restaurants, food-related businesses such as caterers, child care centers, hair and nail salons, hotels and motels, group homes and public pools. Ledge Light also provides health education and communicable disease prevention.
In addition, the health district issues permits for construction and repair of septic systems, and reviews requests for changes to existing systems. Ledge Light's Groton office employs 15 full-time and two part-time staff.
