Ken's Tackle Shop has overlooked the Thames River in Groton since 1958. Since 1972 it has been owned and managed by Groton resident Dorothy Streeter. The old location burned down in 2008 and Streeter has since moved to a new storefront down the street. Ken's remains independently owned and sells both fresh and saltwater fish, bait and tackle. It has the largest inventory in Southeastern Connecticut. The storefront is recognizable by the large, wooden fish hanging above the sidewalk outside. Inside, the store is decorated with seafaring paraphernalia as well as a handmade sign listing prices. The shop's slogan is written out in wooden letters along the wall: "The fish story begins here." In addition to the large selection, customers receive advice about the bait and equipment they'll need to make their big catch.
