The Jesse P. Sanford Boys & Girls Club, located at 170 Cross Highway in Redding, was founded by Sanford, a former First Selectman of Redding, in 1939.
According to the club's website, its mission is "to provide an opportunity for boys and girls to participate equally, regardless of skill level, in athletic, cultural, social and leadership programs in a wholesome and safe environment."
There are baseball and softball fields at the club's complex, as well as a red barn in which there's an office, a snack bar and room for equipment to be stored.
The club has baseball, softball, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, tennis, wrestling and field hockey teams.
