Hillside Covenant Church, a member of the broader Evangelical Covenant Church, sits atop the western part of Naugatuck's town center, just across from the intersection with Hillside Avenue and the Hillside Intermediate School. Hillside Covenant Church was organized as the Swedish Evangelical Bethany Congregation (Church) in Naugatuck in 1894.
The denomination recognizes but transcends theological differences through sharing a common life in Jesus Christ. Hillside welcomes all in Christian fellowship to "Pray-Worship-Serve." The church ministers towards spiritual growth through prayer, Christian education, worship, community outreach and missions.
Hillside Covenant Church hosts church and community related events, such as The Alpha Program, Reach-Out Ministries, the monthly New England Roast Beef or Baked Bean Supper, and is a sponsor of Naugatuck’s New Beginnings Program. Their Fellowship Hall is a meeting site for Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. The pastor is Rev. Liz Leggett. Allen DeFerrari has been Hillside’s organist for 50 years. The church can be reached by via e-mail at hillside.church@sbcglobal.net. Please visit the website for more information.
