History
The original Harborview Market was a thriving market for years dating back as far as the 1930s. The original owners were a family who built the business selling Swedish good. Eventually the original owners sold and the new owner of the building sought to develop the location into high rise apartments. The neighborhood which has always tried to preserve its special identity came out against it, and won. As a result the location simply fell into disrepair. Fast forward to 1993 when the young and ambitious Rick and Michele Torres took the reigns. Rick, being a trained carpenter, got to work on the extensive repairs. Michele prepared the business for a revitalization all while caring for their 4 children at home. After years of hard work and dedication to Black Rock, Harborview is a cornerstone of the neighborhood. We encourage you to come and be a part of our special market.
