Farmington Public Works Department comprises of various divisions, such as engineering, building, planning, fire marshal, water pollution control facility, and highway and grounds. Its divisions are responsible for the designing, planning, inspection and maintenance of infrastructure, including roadways, storm drainage and sanitary sewer systems, open spaces, public parks, and residential, commercial and public buildings. It also handles capital improvement projects. The department provides advice on issues that include home and property improvement, drainage concerns, sanitary sewer locations, leaf collection and snow plowing. Its engineering division designs, reviews and inspects public works projects. It also provides survey, design, review and construction administration services, and additionally inspects the construction work of developers. It is located in and governed by the city of Farmington in Connecticut.
