Staffed by 88 personnel in three fire companies, the Rocky Hill Fire Department responds to fires, hazardous materials incidents, rescue from vehicle accidents and many other emergencies. There is one Cadet Company and one Fire Police Company. The department's full-time positions include a Fire Marshal, Administrative Assistant, Fire Mechanic and a Fire Mechanic/Custodian. All other personnel are volunteers. The department's fire and rescue equipment includes three aerial ladders, one with a 1,500 gpm (gallon per minute) pump; one tower ladder with a 1,500 gpm; one aerial with no pump; one 1,750 gpm foam pumper; two 1,500 gpm pumpers; two 1,250 gpm rescue pumpers; one heavy-duty rescue vehicle; one 4-by-4 attack pumper; a fire rescue boat; support vehicles for command personnel; and fire police. Headquarters is located at 3050 Main St., while Company 1 and Company 2 are located at 739 Old Main St. and 52 New Britain Ave., respectively.
