The East Lyme land use office, located in the Town Hall, includes the planning, zoning and building departments.
The building department is responsible for issuing building permits and change of use forms, while the town building inspector is in charge of enforcing the town's existing regulations with regard to construction, maintenance and safety in East Lyme buildings.
The zoning and planning departments are in charge of property permits requested by residents that wish to construct in East Lyme.
All three departments share an office on the lower level of the Town Hall.
