The Department of Children and Families, also known as DCF, serves the children of Beacon Falls, Cheshire, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Prospect, Southbury, Waterbury and Wolcott towns in Connecticut. The department provides protection, behavioral health, juvenile justice and prevention services. It operates a children s psychiatric hospital and residential facilities. The Department of Children and Families administers the Voluntary Services Program, which includes services for children and youths with emotional disturbances, mental illnesses and substance dependency. The department also offers early childhood intervention, psychiatric, family advocacy, case management, and respite and nursing care services. It is governed by the State of Connecticut.
